Though we have used words like “independent” and “solo” to describe this show, and though it is my name that shows up on everything, this entire project is supported by a large team of incredible people; whether they are working for me, volunteering their time or are long-suffering wonderful friends of mine. There would be no way for me to accomplish all of this without their help.
First and foremost I would like to thank Colin and Sean Chow of Heist Toronto. They saw something in me, and by collaborating with me raised the bar for my work much higher than I might have dared myself; not usually being accountable to anyone else.
And enormous thanks go to Gail McInnes. From the moment she took on this project, she has guided and pushed me far beyond my hopes for this show. It went from being a tiny little presentation in my head to an actual proper event that people were excited to come to. I am very glad to have her on my side, and am very excited for her new company, Magnet Creative. I wish you much success, Gail, and look forward to working with Magnet again.
Mariko Lauren was the genius behind the runway styling. She did an incredible job, and I am extremely lucky to have found this gem of a woman, who was a dream to work with.
Many thanks go to everyone at the Liberty Group, The Courthouse, Ashworth & Associates, Environics, Page One Management, and of course to all the wonderful volunteers for contributing to the show.
I would like to personally thank Greg May, Diana Carrelli, Matti Gidilevich, Milka Mili, Danielle Walker, Michelle Reagan, Cristina Sabaiduc, Peter Ashworth, Ashley Lloyd, Frances Manlucu, Coko Galore, April Jackson, Fawn B.C and Justin Ross (of Tight Knit) for all their hard work and support over the past weeks leading up to my show.
To all of my wonderful friends whom never get to see me and who put up with ridiculous requests at strange times. I love you very much. Very special thanks go to Katrina Armstrong (my Isabella Blow) Robin Edger (male model), the debonair Ian Flett, Chris and Christopher Lewis, Dominic Carlone, Barrett Holman and Ryan Emberley.
To Kelly Burrow and Jennifer Wigg - there aren’t words. Your patience, love and support has been crucial to this collection. You both unfailingly said yes to the most tiresome and painful impositions cheerfully, and came through like angels. Thank you so much.
To my sister Meaghan, who offers crazy comic relief at crucial moments, and to my grandmother, Betty, who always believes and supports me, even if she might secretly despair that I shall never ’settle down’.
And, of course, as always, I am completely indebted to my mother. This show is dedicated to Cynthia Scratch, without whom - for so many reasons - none of this would ever happen. Xoxo
