After studying visual art York University, fashion designer Breeyn McCarney realized her passion was related to garments, not canvas. She launched her signature collection in 2001, selling pieces to wardrobe stylists. Breeyn moved to London, England for three years to refine her techniques, studying textiles and tailoring at Tower Hamlets College and Central Saint Martins College; where she earned her City & Guilds Tailoring Certificate. While in London, Breeyn worked for clothing and accessory designer Shirley Geek and was selected as one of six up-and-coming designers for Puma International’s acclaimed White Project. Upon returning to Canada in 2004, Breeyn continued her education with ancillary tech courses at Ryerson University and focused on further developing the Breeyn McCarney label into a 100% natural fibre fabrics luxury line applying couture sewing techniques, hand-beading and leather-crafting to create opulent pieces. Environmentally and politically motivated, Breeyn divides her time between reaching the goal of operating her company with zero environmental impact and her recently launched, budget-friendly label, AnotherWordForPink - a fun, girly, streetwear version of her signature line.
